modpodTM Board

The modpodTM is a unique set of products designed and developed by Modra Hayes for the provision of innovative, aesthetically pleasing, clean, healthy, rugged and long lasting transportable accommodation, service and storage solutions. Each modpodTM design is fabricated using composite fibre materials, called modpodTM Board in a 20ft High Cube Container format. The modpodTM design range uses the 20ft High Cube Container format to provide “Lego Block” style rack and stack ability to allow the construction of modpodTM Villages. modpodTM villages can be constructed as either single storey or multi storey complexes and have application in a wide range of markets including, Urban or Rural Housing, Mining and Construction Camps, Defence Complexes, Disaster Recovery and Relief, among other applications. Modra Hayes designs and fabricates modpodTM Board to provide the unique characteristics required by the modpodTM for each application. Modra Hayes is constantly reviewing and developing appropriate composite materials to apply to the fabrication of modpodTM Board. Modra Hayes design specific requirements into the fabrication of the modpodTM Board to make the individual modpodTM designs fit for purpose as the world’s best transportable, accommodation, service and storage solutions. Some of the design criteria for the modpodTM Board include:

1. Aesthetically Pleasing. Modra Hayes is conscious that the look and feel of each modpodTM should reflect Modra Hayes desire for fashionable aesthetics. Each modpodTM must be pleasant to look at, and attractive and comfortable to live or work in and so modpodTM Board is designed and fabricated to achieve this requirement. Modra Hayes can also place art work within the modpodTM Board to provide the unique benefit of the structure being the art.

2. Any Colour Combination available. The combination of modpodTM Board colours is open to client choice from a wide ranging palette to suit fashion and design aesthetics. Instead of providing a traditional colour solution, Modra Hayes can alternatively place art work within the modpodTM Board walls to provide the unique benefit of the wall structure encasing the art works.

3. Low Maintenance. Designing the modpodTM Board to be low maintenance means that it never has to be painted in its life time if the client does not wish to change its colour. It also means that the modpodTM is extremely easy to clean, for example, graffiti can be wiped off with a damp cloth.

4. Superior thermal insulation. This modpodTM Board characteristic (R factor can be designed fit for purpose) enables the modpodTM to remain cool in summer and warm in winter without air conditioning. If air conditioning is used, the modpodTM Board thermal insulation characteristics will enable minimal electricity consumption to keep the internal modpodTM temperature at a comfortable level for occupants. Equally, this characteristic allows modpodTM to be designed for use as fridges or cool rooms for food storage.

5. Superior acoustic insulation. This enables large populations of modpodTM to be deployed in large complexes (single or multi storey) but minimise the noise of day to day living to provide privacy and comfort for all those living in modpodTM complexes.

6. Water Proof. This enables modpodTM to withstand the strongest wet weather conditions (snow, hail, rain) with the reliability that those inside will never get wet due to leaks or deterioration of the walls,ceilings or floors due to water deterioration or damp ground. Water proofing also makes the modpodTM easy to clean inside and out by using a high pressure hose to spray the modpodTM down. The modpodTM can be dried simply using towels or cloths, with or without detergents, or sterilisation agents, to get rid of all moisture leaving a gleamingly clean and if necessary sterile modpodTM after cleaning. We can even design and fabricate unique modpodTM swimming pools.

7. Healthy Living. An additional benefit of water proofing and design for low maintenance of the modpodTM means that the modpodTM is not susceptible to mould. Mould can cause serious health issues for occupants of dwellings affected by mould. Once mould gets into a dwelling it is almost impossible to get rid of without demolishing and rebuilding. The modpodTM composite materials do not allow mould to grow.

8. Fire Retardance. modpodTM Board is designed to be fire retardant so that modpodTM will not support burning or the production of toxic fumes.

9. Cyclone Rated. Each modpodTM is Region D cyclone rated, designed to survive the worst storms experienced in the North of Australia, or anywhere else along the equator or in Cyclone ravaged areas.

10. Supplied in standard Sizes or CNC Routed Shapes. Modra Hayes typically supplies modpodTM Board in 4m x 2m lengths. Modra Hayes can also CNC rout modpodTM Board panels in any shape required by our clients. Modra Hayes can also produce unique and specific modpodTM Board shapes for volume production runs.
